Setup ShoutoutsΒΆ

To setup Shoutouts!:

  1. Navigate to the Shoutouts! tool in your Isidore site.
  2. If this is your first time visiting Shoutouts!, the initial Instructor Settings screen will load. If you don't see the Instructor Settings page, click on the settings (gear) icon in the upper right-hand portion of the screen.
  3. Adjust the settings to setup shoutouts for students:

    • Recipient View Enabled - if enabled, allows students to see which shoutouts they've received.
    • Display Leaderboard - if enabled, allows students to see the top 5 shoutout recipients. Identities of the students can be seen by default. If you enable the "Anonymous to Students" setting below, then students can't see the identities of students, just the number of awards for the top 5 shoutout recipients.
    • Enable Moderation - if enabled, allows instructors to approve or reject shoutouts before they're available to students.
    • Anonymous to Students - if enabled, students are not allowed to see the identities of shoutout recipients.
    • Require Comments - if enabled, requires students to enter a comment before sending a shoutout to someone.
    • Notifications - if enabled, instructors will receive email notifications when students send shoutouts.
    • (Optional) Value of sending a Shoutout - instructors may setup the value of sending a shoutout which will display in instructor view, but will not be sent to Isidore's Gradebook
    • (Optional) Value of receiving a Shoutout - instructors may setup the value of receiving a shoutout which will display in instructor view, but will not be sent to Isidore's Gradebook.
    • Potential Shoutouts - enable or disable specific shoutouts by clicking on them.
  4. Once you have these settings configured, click on Save. You may return at any time to make changes.

  5. Shoutouts! is now ready to be used by your students.
