Install Zoom Client

Before Zoom can be used, a client/app must first be installed on your computer or mobile device.

Web Client Installation

You will be prompted to install the web client for Zoom when you join a Zoom meeting for the first time. This is how most people will access zoom. This client will need to be installed for each browser (in other words, if you install the client for Chrome, but then the next day use Firefox, you will need to install the client again). Please note that installing the web client will ALSO install the desktop client.

  1. When you join a meeting, you will see a screen that says, “A download should start automatically in a few seconds.”
  2. You may need to agree to “Run” the installation file as shown in the picture above.
  3. Verify that the file is coming from “Zoom Video Communications, Inc.” then click “Run” again:
  4. Zoom will launch in a new application.

Desktop Client - Windows

If you would like to install the desktop client for Zoom on a Windows machine, follow the steps below. This client allows you start new meetings, join existing meetings, schedule meetings, chat with contacts, and more.

  1. Open a browser and navigate to the following web address: [https://udayton.zoom.us/download]
  2. Click on the Download button for Zoom Client for Meetings.
  3. Save the installation file, "ZoomInstaller.exe", to a place on your computer where you can find it.
  4. Locate the installation file and double click it to start.
  5. Verify that the file is coming from "Zoom Video Communications, Inc." then click "Run" again.
  6. Once the file has finished installing, it will launch the desktop client from which you can launch and join meetings.

Desktop Client - Mac

If you would like to install the desktop client for Zoom on a Mac machine, follow the steps below.

  1. Open a browser and navigate to the following web address: [https://udayton.zoom.us/download]
  2. Click on the Download button for Zoom Client for Meetings.
  3. The Zoom installation file will download to your Downloads folder. Click on the downloads icon in the top right corner of Safari to see it.
  4. Double click on the file name ("Zoom.pkg").
  5. Press "Continue" when prompted.
  6. Zoom will launch.

Mobile - Android

Zoom can be used on mobile devices using an app. Before joining a Zoom meeting, you will be prompted to install the Zoom app from the Google play store.

  1. Open the Google Play Store or attempt to join a Zoom meeting, where you will be prompted to download the Zoom app from the store.
  2. Once the app is installed, open the app or return to the original link to the Zoom meeting to join it.

Mobile - iOS

Zoom can be used on mobile devices using an app. Before joining a Zoom meeting, you will be prompted to install the Zoom app from the Apple store.

  1. Open the Apple Store or attempt to join a Zoom meeting, where you will be prompted to download the Zoom app from the store.
  2. Once the app is installed, open the app or return to the original link to the Zoom meeting to join it.
